The President Akufo-Addo, has accepted the resignation of Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Member of Parliament for Ahanta West constituency, as Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The Chieftaincy Minister submitted his letter of resignation to the President on Friday, 3 February 2023, a statement issued and signed by Eugene Arhin, the director of communications at the presidency indicated.
What might have led to the resignation of the Chieftaincy Minister was not stated. However, the resignation takes immediate effect.
“The President has asked the Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Botwe, MP, to act as caretaker Minister at the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, until a substantive replacement is made” the letter from the presidency read.
The resignation of the Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister leaves four ministerial vacancies in the Akufo-Addo administration following the resignation of former Minister of State at the finance ministry, Charles Kofi Adu Boahen, former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, and former Food and Agriculture Minister, Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
Jubilee House insiders have told Asaase News that President Akufo-Addo is set to present a new list of ministers to Parliament on Tuesday 7 February 2023, when the House reconstitutes for the third session of the eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
Asaase News sources familiar with the pending ministerial reshuffle of the Akufo-Addo administration indicate that no major changes in ministerial appointments will be announced in the list the President will send to the Speaker of Parliament.
The source also noted that there is the possibility that there will be notable movements of deputy ministers of state in the much awaited reshuffle of President Akufo-Addo’s ministers.
