Akwasi Afrifa-Mensa Sworn In As Board Chair For NYA

The Member of Parliament for Amasaman Constituency, Hon. Akwasi Afrifa-Mensa was on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 sworn in as the Chairman of the Governing Board for the National Youth Authority (NYA) at the conference room of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

President Akufo-Addo, in a letter dated October 4, 2021 signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema-Opare appointed the Amasaman MP as the Presidents Representative (Chairperson) of the governing body of the Authority in line with Act 2016 (939).

The fifteen-member Board chaired by Hon. Afrifa-Mensa has been charged by the Minister for Youth and sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif to assist the management of NYA to initiate policies that will give the youth of Ghana opportunities to develop their God-given talents. He also charged the governing Board to ensure that management of the NYA should do whatever it takes to complete the ten (10) ongoing Resource Centres across the country.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Afrifa-Mensa expressed appreciation to president Akufo-Addo for the confidence reposed in him and indicated his readiness to work hard to achieve the President’s vision of youth empowerment.
