Nkwanta South MCE tells feuding ethnic groups to embrace peace

The Municipal chief executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Bright Kwame Lenwah, has called on all feuding ethnic groups to immediately ceasefire and embrace peace.

Several lives have been lost in the municipality in protracted ethnic conflicts over a piece of land. One person died on 29 September 2022 in renewed clashes in the community, leaving others injured.

Speaking with Asaase News, Lenwah said conflicts stall development, leaving several residents in a state of fear.

“Where there is a conflict, development becomes very difficult and residents turn to suffer,” he said. “There are many developmental projects that the assembly embarked on but some of these issues are now affecting the smooth run of the projects.”

He therefore called on all the indigenes and the leaders of the various ethnic groups to as a matter of urgency call their youth to order.

Meanwhile, the MCE has given the assurance to the residents that the security agencies are working to arrest the culprits linked to the recent incident.
