President Akufo-Addo meets Koforidua traders on economic challenges

I President Akufo-Addo as part of his three-day tour of the Eastern Region, has met with the leadership of market women and traders in Koforidua

He met them to have a conversation about the economy and the impact on their businesses, to listen to them, taking notes and also telling them what his government is doing and planning to do to stabilise and revive the economy.



Ghana like the rest of the world, has been experiencing rising inflation, high cost of living, price hikes and a sharp depreciation of the cedi to the United States dollar.

The traders according Asaase News sources who attended the closed door meeting, spent about an hour with President Akufo-Addo.

The traders pointed out to the President the kind of interventions they will want to see in government’s response programme to the economic challenges.

The traders according to our sources indicated that they understand the global nature of the causes of the current difficulties, however, they want government to include some initiatives that will help salvage their businesses.


President Akufo-Addo in return explained the causes of the economic challenges and the enormity of the impact it’s having on the country’s economy.

The President hinted that his government has some immediate measures he will shortly be announcing to the country to address the challenges.
