Rebecca Foundation Expands Educational Activities

First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has announced a new phase of the Rebecca Foundation which would focus on reaching more children with better educational facilities to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

“From January 2022, the Rebecca Foundation would work towards reducing schools under trees, especially in communities that have no other schools,” she said.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo made this known at the Rebecca Foundation’s Christmas soiree for corporate individuals and organisations in the country.

The event, held at the premises of the First Lady’s Office in Accra, was to express gratitude to the Foundation donors and also seek their support for its interventions.

“We are here to celebrate you, to show how proud we are of you and how blessed we are to have you to be part of this journey.

You have been part of making a difference in the lives of many Ghanaians the Rebecca Foundation has touched,” she said.

The First Lady recounted the impact the Foundation has made in society saying many children in hard-to-reach areas of the country have been given access to library facilities to help them learn how to read and also access the internet.

“A mother in Assin North was able to pick herself up after the loss of her husband. You gave her the opportunity to learn a skill and acquire a seed capital to care for her children.
We have seen time and time again the beautiful smile on a mother’s face as she and her baby are discharged from the mother and baby unit at the Komfo-Anokye teaching hospital. We have also seen a baby who could have died, recover at the Rebecca Akufo-Addo Pediatirc Intensive Care Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital,” she mentioned.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo said the Foundation’s positive impact in society is, “why we do what we do and that is why you support what we do. With your support we have indeed made a huge impact on Ghanaian women and children.”

She, however, noted that there is more work to be done indicating, “the dream is bigger than ourselves, it transcends to future generations. We want to impact more lives especially children in the area of education. We believe the seeds we sow today will bear fruits years to come.”

She noted that all children, irrespective of where they find themselves, deserve to be educated under the best conditions.

“I am positive that you would support this new phase of the Rebecca Foundation’s journey given our history together, I know I can count on you to come through for our children,” she told the gathering.
