Hockey teams begin camping today

Twenty three players each for the national male and female hockey teams will begin residential camping today to finalise preparations towards the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

While the female team consist of only home-based players, the male team include two players from France and South Africa.



The Secretary General of the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA), Rita Odei Asare, who released the list yesterday indicated that the foreign-based players had already joined the team in Ghana to prepare for the tournament which pushes off in Birmingham on July 29.

Squad

The female team comprise three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and five strikers, with the male team consisting of three goalkeepers, eight defenders, seven midfielders and five strikers.

The female players are: Abigail Boye, Nafisatu Umaru, Serwaa Boakye, Cecilia Amoako, Martha Sarfoa (Police), Bridget Azumah, Adizatu Sulemana, Mavis Boatemaa Berko, Ernestina Coffie, Rafiatu Okine, Elizabeth Opoku, Roberta Owusu Sarfo, Vivian Nakour and Doris Antwi (GRA).

Others are Eleanor Otoo, Abigail Danquah, Asana Gbati, Lydia Afriyie Hagiet Copson, Margaret Owusuwaa, Mavis Ampem Darko (Armed Forces) Gifty Addae (Prisons) and Rachael Bamfo (Prisons).

The males include Eugene Acheampong, Ernest Obeng Opoku, Luke Damalie, Matthew Damalie, Christoper Dogie (GRA), Benjamin Acquah, Charles Abbiw, Alfred Ntiamoah, Richard Adjei (Police), Tyche Duisberg Offei, Elikem Akaba, Emmanuel Elorm Akaba, Samuel Afari and Francis Tettey Lartey (Exchequers).

The rest are Mohammed Osumanu, Stephen Ofosu Asamoah, Emmanuel Ankomah, Benjamin Kwofie Addison Abdellah (Armed Forces), Raphael Agyapong, Samuel Agbeli Akpene (Prisons), Michael Baiden (Bohemians, South Africa), and Derrick Lee Owusu (Saint Germain, France).
