Max Holloway continues to prove that he is a very good asset to the UFC after putting on a great fight against Britain’s Arnold Allen at UFC Kansas City. The Hawaiian may have found his nemesis in Alexander Volkanowski, but he keeps coming out on top in his other bouts.
On this occasion he defeated – by unanimous decision 49-46, 49-47 and 48-47 – a fighter who had won 10 straight UFC fights of his own. So not only did the relapse not happen, but the fight gave Holloway’s career a new lease of life.
It was a close five rounds, so Allen can rest assured that he still has a big future in the company, even if Holloway hurt him badly with a final flurry of punches.
The American was more incisive, had more speed and more accurate punching and that’s why he took the fight. He is still an intense fighter and overcame his opponent’s powerful left. Max’s future now lies in the featherweight title conversation with him likely to face the winner of the fight between Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez.
